While I don't endorse any one vendor, I will attempt to give you several choices where you can compare prices and purchase your food storage and supplies. I'm happy to pass on special sales and deals as I become aware of them. Feel free to let me know of any of your favorites.
I added a new link in the side bar - for http://www.homestoragebasics.org/ - It's interesting in that you purchase the wheat, or freeze dried fruits & veggies by the box - then can your own. I don't yet have the "formula" necessary to be able to compare the prices, or to know how many #10 cans a box will fill... I'm sure it varies with the product. But it's worth checking into... a few families could go in together on a box. We have been offered the ocassional use of a canner owned by Marlene Neilson in our ward... It's work to set up, so we'd want enough to can to make it worth it, but that's a wonderful resource. Thank you Marlene.
Also, a reminder of my neighbor's father who inherited a wheat farm in Idaho and has lots of wheat for sale. It's going for $20.00 for a 6 gallon bucket. It's hard red wheat, or he also has spring white wheat available. We'd need to know how many pounds that 6 gallon bucket holds to really compare prices. Oh...Dad said it would be about 50 pds... thanks, honey.
If anyone wants to go in on bulk-group purchasing, let me know ... It is a great way to get better prices.
